The legend of Cosmo Cougar dates back to his introduction in 1953 when he parachuted into LaVell Edwards Stadium. The original costume cost $73 and was purchased by BYU pep chairman Dwayne Stevenson.
BYU students filled the Marriott Center to watch the Homecoming Opening Ceremony on Oct. 14. President C. Shane Reese roused cheers from the audience as he welcomed students to the kickoff event.
