It’s a big jump from No. 10 to 1, but Iowa State did run the nation’s top-ranked team right out of its own gym. The 23-point victory over Purdue matched the largest road win against a No. 1 team in NCAA history, a mark fist set by No. 15 Villanova with its 96-73 win over No. 1 UConn in 1995. “It was an avalanche,” Purdue coach Matt Painter said.
Thanks to blowout wins over San Diego State, Auburn and Gonzaga, Michigan rose from No. 7 to third in the newest Associated Press Top 25 poll. St. John's, on the other hand, moved in the opposite direction after going 1-2 during the Players Era Festival. The Red Storm, who were fifth in the preseason poll, are now down in 23rd.
The Michigan women remained at No. 6 in the AP poll. They played one game since the last poll, winning Wednesday at Detroit Mercy 102-53. The Wolverines host Central Michigan on Wednesday (7 p.m. ET, B1G+) and open Big Ten play at home against Purdue on Sunday (noon, BTN).

Michigan up to No. 3 in AP Top 25 men’s basketball poll, Michigan State and Iowa State into top 10
Michigan has jumped to No. 3 in the AP Top 25 men’s basketball poll. Rival Michigan State and Iowa State have both climbed into the top 10.
As a result, Michigan jumped four spots in this week’s poll to No. 3. Auburn, which bounced back with a win over St. John’s after losing to Michigan, moved up to No. 20. Gonzaga, which had looked very solid up until this point, also moved up a single spot to No. 11.
