Oct 9, 2022 · Updating for anyone else who happens upon this thread. chillbot is the only one still playing music and it has its own library to draw from so it probably won't be hit by youtube. you just do /play and it starts playing lowfi music automatically, no youtube links. i've yet to find a music bot working with youtube links atm.

YouTube has made some policies to prevent this, hence why most music discord bots have shut down. You can perhaps consider other platforms other than YT.

I figured there were some smaller ones that were able to sneak past the cease and desist music bot massacre YouTube started, but they can only fly under YouTube's radar for so long. Especially since their popularity will definitely start rising with all the people looking for YouTube music bots.

If youtube gave copyright holders an option to allow their videos to be played on discord watch together as well I doubt any would refuse, given watch together has ads and is monetized just like normal youtube. Or maybe just don't shut down music bots to give people a worse alternative.
