Astronomers have taken a detailed look at Jupiter’s famous Great Red Spot 🔴 and found that it is not as stable as it seemed. The NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope was used to measure its size, shape, brightness, colour, and vorticity over 90 days. This showed the famous storm ‘jiggling’ like a bowl of gelatin as it went through an oscillation in its elliptical shape – an unexpected discovery with no known cause.
