Visitors to the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore will notice a significant change this year as the popular wooden platform at Lookout Number 9 on the Pierce Stocking Drive has been removed. 📍 Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore in Empire, Michigan Stop #9 on the Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive has long been a favorite spot to soak in the stunning views of Sleeping Bear Dunes. Sadly, the beloved outlook platform here had to be removed due to erosion. While the view from this spot will look different for now, park officials are already planning to build a new platform in the future.
