President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping met in Busan, South Korea, shaking hands and delivering brief remarks to the press. CBS News’ Nancy Cordes asked Trump if he is expected to sign a trade deal and he said “could be.” The face-to-face meeting began shortly after 11 a.m. local time on Thursday, or 10 p.m. ET Wednesday, at a South Korean military base. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said Senate Democrats will introduce a bill Tuesday, on day 28 of the government shutdown, to fund SNAP, after the Department of Agriculture said federal food aid will not go out on Nov. 1. When asked by CBS News’ Nikole Killion at his weekly press conference what the Democratic strategy is to end the shutdown, Schumer responded: “Look on November 1, people in more than 30 states are going to be aghast, aghast, when they see their bills. And they're going to
