Curious about growing your own sweet potatoes? We got you! We tested two ways to start slips—soil vs. water propagation —to see what works best and when you can expect results. Spoiler: soil wins by about 1-2 weeks! We used last year’s harvest to start ours (but you can totally do this with organic sweet potatoes from the store too). At this stage, let the slips grow to about six inches, then gently snap them off and place them in water until roots form—after that, they’re ready for the garden!
