Today we visited the Patton family homestead in Hamilton, Massachusetts—a property intended to be General George S. Patton’s retirement home after World War II. Although General Patton tragically passed away in 1945 before he could return, the homestead remained a central piece of the family’s story. This 17th-century Spanish bronze cannon at the Patton Homestead in Hamilton, Massachusetts was brought back from the coast of Morocco during World War II by General George S. Patton. Salvaged during his North African campaign, the cannon was installed on the family’s back patio, where it still overlooks the Ipswich River.
