After cutting back my autumn raspberries, I save the canes to use later as pea supports. Peas find it much easier to climb raspberry canes than smooth bamboo sticks because the canes have natural little spikes and texture for them to cling onto. Easy Raspberry Cane Garden Edging 🌿 Don't throw away pruned raspberry canes - use them for projects like this garden edging. All you need are short pieces of bamboo for the uprights and raspberry canes to weave around them. Wear gloves if your canes have thorns and weave to about a foot or less. Raspberry canes last two to three years before breaking down. At that point, rebuild the edging using new raspberry canes!
